Hussain Sagar Lake: situated in the heart of the city, was excavated in 1562 AD much before the present day Hyderabad took shape. The centerpiece of the lake is ensconced with the monolithic statue of Lord Buddha. This is Asias largest monolithic statue which shimmers during night and greets the travelers with one of the best spectacular views. The tourism authorities have introduced pedal boats, speed boats, steering boat and water scooter and special designed launches Bhageerathi Bhagmati, and Khair-un-Nissa to enhance the riding pleasure on the serene lakes. On this lake exclusively, one can indulge in parasailing, rowing, and ferry rides. The other boating points at Hussain Sagar include the necklace road jetty and the Sanjeeviah Park Jetty.
Bhageerathi: The pleasure cruiser, measuring 26 meter in length and 6 meter in breadth, can accommodate 100 people. Cruising at Osmansagar Lake: The Osman sagar Lake in Gandipet nestled on the outskirts of Hyderabad is close to the famous Chilkur Balaji temple. Osmansagar is one of the two lakes on the citys periphery that supplies drinking water to the twin cities. The lake is also a reservoir created by a dam across the Isa,. Cruising at Pathalaganga-Akkamahadevi Cave:
Akkamahadevi Cave is a natural formation just above an expanse of the Krishna River, about 10 km from Srisaillam. The cave is famous for geological wonder Rock Arch which measures nearly 200X16X4 feet, and towers majestically without any support. Vistors marvel at the wind weathered rock in and around the cave. The surroundings of the cave and the journey from Srisaillam on the Krishna river provides a wonderful experience.
The adventurous tourist may want to explore the meandering cave going up to 150 meters deep. The cave is named Akkamahdevi , the famous ascetic, lyricist, and philosopher of Shimoga, Karnataka. Akkamadevi did penance in this cave and worshipped the natural Sivlinga deep inside the cave. A motorboat takes visitors to these spots.
