Originally a mud fort founded by the Kakatiya Kings of Warangal during the 13th century, Golconda attained glory under the Qutub Shahi dynasty (1518 to 1687). This is where the priceless Kohinoor diamond was found. One of the famous forts of India, an added attraction here is an enchanting Sound & Light Show in the evenings.The Chandragiri Fort has been constructed at a height of 183 m, on a huge rock in 1000 A.D. The excellent architectural acumen of the Vijayanagar Empire is evident, amongst the palaces and temples which still exist here in Andhra Pradesh. The medley of various lights and sounds, appealingly presents the spectacular views of the cityscape, culture harmony, hoary shrines, majestic works of development and history. Organized at Golconda Fort in Hyderabad and Chandragiri Fort in Tirupati, this show is conducted in three languages that are English, Hindi, and Telugu. Giving it a global touch, the first show is conducted in English on all days. The second show is conducted in Telugu on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For the Hindi speaking visitors, this show takes place on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The first show commences from March to October from 7:00 PM to 8:00PM, second show from March to October 8:15 PM to 9:15 PM and during winters, there are slight changes in the timings. From November to February, the timings are 7:45 PM to 8:45 PM. At Golconda Fort the fare range for an adult is Rs 100 and child is Rs 30. For Executive class adult, the fare range for an adult is Rs 100 and for child is Rs 35 respectively. However, the fares at Chnadragiri Fort are genuinely reasonable for the shows held in Telugu and English languages. For an adult the fare is Rs 35 and Rs 25 for child. More details are given below:
